How often should you refill lash extensions?
A realistic guide to infill timing, retention, and how to keep your lash set looking polished between appointments.
Most clients book lash refills every two to three weeks. That window keeps the set looking balanced and avoids the sparse stage where extensions have shed unevenly.
The exact timing depends on your natural lash cycle, the fullness of your original set, lifestyle factors, and how polished you like your lashes to look day to day.
Signs it is time for an infill
- You can see noticeable gaps through the top line of the lashes.
- The outer corners have started to look lighter than the centre.
- You are using more eye makeup to recreate the original definition.
- Your lashes still look neat, but no longer feel freshly finished.
What can shorten lash retention?
Oil-based skincare, sleeping face-down, frequent steam exposure, and rubbing the eye area can all reduce retention. Natural shedding also varies from person to person, which is why refill timing is never exactly the same for every client.
The best refill rhythm is the one that keeps your lashes looking consistently soft, full, and intentional rather than waiting until they feel overdue.
If it has been closer to five weeks, a fresh full set is often the better result. It allows the shape to be rebuilt properly and keeps the finish clean.
